Updating Reviews

aldreddaldredd United KingdomPosts: 203
Quick question - I need to update a handful of my set reviews. I need to change the link to the image as I'm retiring the current app servicing the images.

I've done one, and it's prompted that it's now awaiting moderation.

That's fine, but made me wonder - before I change the others, will doing this reset the helpful votes for them?

Thanks

    No,they are preserved.

I'll make you a trusted reviewer so you can bypass moderation

Yeah, I looked back at some reviews I wrote about 5 years ago, noticed some spelling mistakes and then found after fixing them they had to be moderated again!

Yes, because you could have laced with with swearwords and links to porn :-)

However, in your case I've made you a trusted reviewer so moderation is bypassed.

Too kind, too kind...To be honest, I don't know that I'll be writing too many reviews in the future, given that I hadn't written any for at least 4 years! But who knows, maybe I'll find the time in my post-graduation doldrums...

Hi Huw - thought I'd follow this one up, just in case you're either interested, curious, might be able to ad any thoughts - or just something to keep you busy for a couple of mins ;)

The reason I wanted to move the images was because my server was getting absolutely annihilated on one of the sub-domains - to the tune of 5-6gb per month. Whilst this was never going to cause me a problem (I think I get 500gb bandwidth), I was curious as to why this was.

Although the sub-domain originally 'hosted' an own-cloud installation, I'd long-abandoned this, and all that remained were a couple of dozens images used for 3 or 4 brickset reviews.

So I moved them to a different sub-domain, and re-linked the reviews.

Funnily enough, although I've not changed anything else, the usage has disappeared, without it transferring to elsewhere on the server.

So not sure what was going on - can only assume the images were being leeched somehow.

Of course, all taken care of now, but thought I'd flag it, just in case you have seen / see similar patterns elsewhere.

It's probably just the 'Brickset effect' :)
