Glasgow and West of Scotland Brick Club
Things, finally, seem to be moving in the right direction in terms of more people in Scotland keen and willing to get involved in furthering a LUG or Brick Club.
I attended Warren's event last weekend (see Edinburgh AFOL meet up thread) and had a great time. It was a pleasure to spend time and discuss things with fellow AFOLers.
However, I left the meet up with a strange mixture of emotions. Partly enthused and excited but also slightly disappointed.
Enthused and excited because there was a couple of dozen people just like me sharing our love and affection for the brick but disappointed because my own geographical area of Glasgow and the West of Scotland seem to struggle in organising and putting on events. Certainly, when compared to an area like the North East who seem to, at least, have some presence in their local area and do put on events every now and then.
Hats off to them. If they can do it, then so can we.
I'd like to be part of doing something similar in Glasgow and the West of Scotland. There are, I believe, enough AFOLers in the area to start taking small exploratory steps to creating something bigger and worthwhile.
Nothing ventured. Nothing gained.
So, in the next week or so, I'll be announcing a Glasgow and West of Scotland informal meet up to discuss how we take things forward in the West. The meet up will be to gauge the numbers who are keen to get involved but also to talk about potential events, displays and how we can share our talents, work together and make a difference. Collaboratively and Creatively.
If you are interested in getting involved and help set up a Glasgow and West of Scotland AFOL Brick Club drop me a DM.
Being an AFOL should be fun. It is about time we spread and share that fun with the good, good people of Glasgow and the West of Scotland.

Thanks for reading and, hopefully, catch up soon.
