What sets would you MOC?

LordmoralLordmoral Puerto RicoMember Posts: 127
Hello, I was looking the Internet when I came to this picture of a Nexo Knight set (Axl Tower Carrier) and thought to myself, wouldn't it be great if I had unlimited cash the amount of crazy things I would just buy to modify?  This lead me to think; what set would you buy to modify if you had the money or what will you be buying to shape into your liking?

Already bought it--the Sea Cow. I figure with that and my other modern ships (I also have the Black Pearl and the LOTR pirate ship), I can MOC just about any sailing ship I want, possibly in multiples.

Haunted House for me (10228) (or this https://rebrickable.com/mocs/kjw010/modified-haunted-house), I've been mulling it over for months, trying to decide if I want to build it, what color, etc. But can't decide on a color scheme. The unlimited cash part comes in where I know I'd want to try it in multiple colors.

I'd buy multiple of the Brick Bank too, to make that more impressive.

I would buy the Axl Tower Carrier but instead of building the tower where Axl goes I would try to MOC it in the shape of a Rebel anti-air turret (the Rebel need help with all those Ties the Imperial Machinary owns) the general seating area on the turret will stay generally the same to seat a Rebel trooper.
I also have in my to buy list a 2014 Lego Star Destroyer to MOC into an Acclamator Cruiser (http://bricksetforum.com/discussion/24593/moc-project-ii-set-conversion-isd-acc#latest) but the prices on the Internet are $$$$.

I regularly buy double of all the Friend's houses or the small creator houses when they go on sale and make them into larger modular buildings.
That's cool, may we see one or two pictures of them?

I would MOC a proper launch pad for my #10213 just like the real one. Unfortunately my moc'ing skills are not up to the challenge. Maybe someone has done this? If they have pls let me know.

did buy #76055 (Killer Croc's junkyard scooter and the Bat-tank that looks like it's already hit a wall and crumple-zoned), and yeah, I bought it mostly for the figures and to keep my completionist urge from itching; I hoped the tank would grow on me once I had it in front of me rather than just pictures as not infrequently happens (The Jedi Scout Fighter and Jek's Fighter from Star Wars come to mind) but it didn't, so it won't be joining my Batcave. But on principle I'd like to do something with the parts oh wow literally as I write this I figured it out - I was going to say, inspiration hadn't struck as to what, I don't really like the idea of a Bat-tank (even one not pre-crumpled), and then the idea came to me: stealth boat. Smoother and sleeker than the twin-hull Batboat from last year, don't laugh, I'm thinking the boat from the Van Damme Street Fighter movie, just slap a Bat symbol on it. Okay then, problem solved - thanks, thread :)

The first thing that comes to mind would be the  60's Batcave, but then just the sure cost of doing anything respectable rules that out.

I have a number of Friends sets lined up for converting to modular city format. Emma's house, Olivia's house, the Hotel, the Bakery. Also working on making the Elve's Starlight Inn into a German style inn/brewery. It looks great in my imagination but I am a bit worried reality will fall a bit short.

Well it will probably be at least two years before I get a chance to work on it as 99% of my Lego is in the US and I am not. Might have an LDD file worked up soon though.

I do not have the skill but imagine that Temple of Airjitzu #70751-1 could be made into a fantastic MOC of sorts given multiple sets and some other added pieces.

^ I like that conversion. Surprised it's come out with such a uniform colour scheme - the set it's based on seems to have quite a few colours in it! Would love to see others from your collection.

I've made small adjustments to certain elements of sets such as:

    #76039 - Ant-Man Final Battle (Yellowjacket's Mechanical Harness)

You Tried To Hide Your Suit From Me Now Its Gonna Blow Up In Your Face - Yellowjacket

    #5004590 - Bat-Pod (Black Rims)

    Bat-Pod 5004590

    #76050 - Crossbones' Hazard Heist (Falcon's Redwing)

Here is my humble MOC of two (41135) Livi's Pop Star Houses made into one real 4 sided, two story and fully roofed house.

This was exactly two of the same set bought on sale from Target only thing extra was the baseplate and a few small pieces here and there and I still had a bunch of pieces left over.

I have a few others I've finished (you can kinda see two n the background of the first image) and a few more I am working on, will share soon as I get back home and take some pic if people are interested.

I use the original instructions as inspiration because I'm not good enough to just go on my own, then once I get far enough I deviate to my own building.

    So simple yet so effective.

Thanks, I actually took out all pink and replaced with purple instead to unify and simplify the color scheme white, purple, beige and black.

Made a start on my Batcave/Wayne Manor. I built all the parts of the ebay set I bought (everything except the vehicles and minifigs) to ensure I hadn't been diddled, then started to build the Bat Computer assembly smack in the middle of LBG plates amounting to 48 studs wide x 16 studs deep (double the normal width) and added in the cave entrance (helipad assembly, without the helipad on top), and added the helipad plates as a roadway. The whole cave is going to be 80 studs x 48, with a 32 x 72 studs Wayne Manor sitting on top.

Excuse the lack of photos, waiting for my phone to charge!

I'm planning some changes to the SpiderMan Bridge battle. It'll be a complete bridge and either 4 or 6 studs wider. I've got the set plus an extra(without minifigs) I think I'll be able to finish without needing too many more parts beyond that.

^ funny.  I bought two bridge battles with the idea to join them end to end into a complete bridge.  then I will un-damage it, and remove all the webs, etc.  basically turn it into a "normal" bridge.  I built one just for the build experience, which I always enjoy.  hopefully this weekend I will throw the second one together, and mod-join the end to end.  I'll try to get some pics, then set about de-webbing them later.

I think you're not the only 2 to have this idea. I kinda like it but I'm not crazy about the figs. I may get it if there is a good deal.

@RidzDesign will you be showing the other MOCs in the background?

And I don't think you can say you are not good enough. You are clearly. But if you feel you need a head start have you tried choosing a real life object, getting detailed photos or blueprints of it, then trying to turn that into a build? You could always start small...move to something bigger as your skills expand...

I'm sort of passing on good advice I've received in the last month or so. Start with Modding, then go to that stage...

I also try to mod the smaller creator or Friends buildings into "modulars". I've done the Friends pop star house and the Creator corner deli so far. I'm currently working on the Friends grand hotel. I have a couple copies of Ninjago Battle for Ninjago City as well, which I also hope to turn into a modular style building some day.

I'd like to try something using multiple sets of #41101 the Friends Heartlake Hotel into a large modular if I had a couple hundred quid spare.Would love to combine a couple of haunted houses as well (maybe if I win the lottery)

I'm not really good at doing things from scratch but I'm working on a diner modular using multiple #41035 and #3061 that I keep picking up cheap on eBay ha, also I did mod 3 sets of #31050 that I got on sale into a small modular.

@xiahna & I have bought doubles of a couple of Creator sets with plans to turn them into Modulars ( #31026 Bike Shop & Cafe & #31050 Corner Deli), we also grabbed an extra #31048 Lakeside Lodge because of an idea to combine it with #31025 Mountain Hut for a camping grounds area. Hoping to grab another #60132 Service Station cheap enough so we can create a petrol station more like the ones local to us. Of course being a massive Marvel fan, I had get two #76057 Spider-Man Ultimate Bridge Battle sets so I can build a complete bridge.

I'll look forward to seeing what you do with Lakeside Lodge and Mountain Hut, @VorpalRyu - have been thinking of putting them together myself!
