Legoland Electronic Ride Reservation System

Has anyone been to a Legoland and used this service?
we are going to Legoland California and I saw this advertised. Thought?

~~~~~~<
Spend your day at LEGOLAND California Resort creating memorable experiences, not waiting in lines with our Reserve 'N' Ride Electronic Ride Reservation System. Reserve 'N' Ride allows you to maximize your fun and ride when it's your turn.
Guests with Reserve 'N' Ride receive a hand held device that lets you make ride reservations from anywhere in the Park.
Select the ride you want on your Reserve ‘N’ Ride device and it will reserve your place. You'll get an alert when it's your turn to ride. Head to the Reserve and Ride Entrance, and you get to skip the line. The higher the level, the less time you wait between making your reservation and being able to ride. Reserve and Ride is available for purchase online or at the Park.
Seems pretty expensive. https://secure.legoland.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?langId=-15&storeId=10662&catalogId=23551&top=Y&categoryId=203604&isautoAddComment=&_ga=2.26903421.1725627130.1502601379-2119069174.1483510767
    That makes is an expensive day out!
    Honestly, there should be a free ticketing system like at some UK theme parks and Disneyland Paris, IIRC: go to a ride, take a ticket, come back at the time stated.
    I've been to Legoland, California and there was no need for the service. You could walk on most rides with little or no wait. As with any theme park get there early and you can ride the most popular rides before the crowds form.
    As Huw said this system is free at Disney Parks (Disneyland Fastpass)
    The UK Legoland has a similar thing https://www.legoland.co.uk/tickets-and-passes/parking-q-bot-and-extras/q-bot/
    I suppose it depends how busy it is. I went there once with "free" tickets (so I didn't get to choose which day), and some rides had queues of nearly 2 hours. Ridiculous!
    Personally I wouldn't pay for such a system on principal, if you've already payed out to be there and they are going to try to gouge more money from you on overpriced food and gift shop tat then suggesting you pay again to on on rides is the epitome or cheek.
    However I'm not exactly a massive fan of theme park rides and I have some friends who are and swear that these things are worth the money. As with most things in life value is subjective. As someone who isn't too fussed about getting to go on the rides I'd rather save my money and just not bother with a ride that says 2hr queues and go to something with smaller queues instead.
