Withdrawal of Ninjago City set

MomotwelveMomotwelve EuropeMember Posts: 1
Hi, my first post here and hoping there may be some views out there from seasoned collectors as to whether they think the Ninjago City set may be withdrawn soon. I'm a couple of weeks from ordering and getting antsy about it disappearing before I lurch over the finish line. Cheers to all in advance.

I think you've probably still got a good amount of time left. Lego will likely want to keep it around at least until the compatible Ninjago City Dockyards set releases this summer, and to be honest I wouldn't be surprised to see it stick around for at least another year or so after that.

Ninjafo city in all likelihood has several years left. Most of the big sets seem to last at least two years if not longer these days. That set in particular has been well reviewed and represents a good value even at msrp.

Especially with the release of the the Ninjago Dockyards (or whatever it's called, I forget exactly :P) that ties into Ninjago City, I think you have at the very least another year and a half before you have to start worrying.  I would also keep an eye on the other TLNM sets.  Personally, I think Ninjago City will outlast most of them, as a large D2C set that has proven to have pretty good appeal outside of TLNM fans, so if even the regular TLNM sets stick around for awhile, then I could see Ninjago City itself getting a 3 or 4 year run even.

While I believe it will stick around longer than the other movie sets I can't see it lasting more than two years. How many large $200 plus LEGO Sets can realistically be out, and in production at one time? Yes the set is great, but was the movie? It's not a flagship set like the MilF, or the Death Star. As a kid would you rather have one big expensive set, or lots of small to medium sized sets? I don't see the movie lasting the test of time, but the tv show can reinvent it's self every season. New tv based set will take over, and the movie sets will disappear. If it was me I'd wait till double points, or some other big promo. But I'd wouldn't wait more than a year and a half.

Im hoping it sticks around to be discounted somewhere, and if anything for at least a double points promo when I can burn that kind of cash for one set

I hope they keep the Ninjago modular building theme  going, just base it off the TV show instead of the movie.

You must have jinxed it! Smyths in the U.K. had it on sale for £200, down from £260 this morning. I managed to get one before it sold out

*insert caret here* The one post with a clever abbreviation for Milennium Falcon.  However, even if it were left as MF it is still risque...

And I came here thinking someone was having withdrawals from being without a new Ninjago City set... ;-)
I thought it was someone having withdrawals after finishing building it, because I just finished mine a couple of hours ago and I already miss building it...my favorite set to build ever.

You can actually add on to the main building with additional side buildings. I've created one 16 studs side building with cafe restaurant on 1st level and Arcade Center on 2nd level.

This way you can keep expanding the length of the Ninjago City street. The upcoming Dockyards already stretching another 48 studs length?

Yeah I am looking forward to when I have time to moc some Ninjago city style modulars. Will be great opportunity to use parts and colors that just don't fit well into regular modulars.

I know there is a 'how many bags' thread, but can't see this set on there. Any chance anyone could tell me how many bags of each number is in it, please? Not convinced I have everything looking at reviews, but can't find anything about actual bag number

Do you have pictures? I'd love to see it. Been thinking of doing some myself, but I want to wait and see official images of the docks, because if it's designed to go on a certain side of the first one, I don't want to screw myself up making a building to take the wrong side

Really interested in the Dockyards. From what I have heard it’s big on”being flat” which means a larger footprint. Not that it matters so much especially up against a very large Ninjago City, but I hope it’s worth all the buzz.

Just opened my 70620 - two boxes with thumb tabs 6209873 and 6210371 - haven't opened them yet.  Underneath them, 20 bags.  Number 9 x2, 11-16 x3. Plus 3 instruction booklets and 2 sheets of stickers sealed in another bag labelled 6211794.

Cheers. I'd taken the plunge anyway and assumed I'd got the lot! Up to bag 13 with the build so far, with no missing pieces so all looking good.  There are quite a few bags, aren't there :)
