Just finished the Black and White Mini. I won't need to open my normal one now...

Roughly how much did it set you back with the parts?
Which was the hardest ones to procure?

I'd like to do one that is blue and yellow...and wondering if it will be within my price range to do this.

No idea re cost. I have masses of loose parts and tend to be building 10 or so builds at a time so the costs of buying parts from Bricklink for any one set are hard to determine.

A couple of the rarer parts include the wheel arches  (limited colours) and the trans dark windscreen. I think the sloped bricks that make up the front wings may also be in limited colours.

    Put together a small diorama

Fantastic mini-sandcrawler build, and the use of forced perspective is really great!

#70917 The Ultimate Batmobile! Did bag 1 last night- Bat-Signal and Bat-Cycle. Forced myself to stop and go to bed. On average, build time for me is about one minute per dollar of RRP. So I'm sure the rest will take a solid two hours more... then I should build #6941: Blacktron Battrax! :)

Half-term building project with my eldest daughter.
For her birthday a few weeks back, we finally gave her the #41015 Dolphin cruiser that has been hiding in a cupboard for a while. Two days after she unwrapped it, I found what appears to be a nearly complete one in a charity shop for £3.
So this week we will each be building the set, her with her present & me with the second-hand one, going at her pace.
Today we both finished Bag 1 (of 5).
I had to replace a minidoll head (they had Stephanie's head rather than Mia's) & add the hair & also dig out a spare ski from my parts. I did think initially that I was missing a couple of pieces more but they appeared when I was sorting

Needed a quick fix, so just built #40170 ... Now off to bed!

^^ I like the $1 per minute deal... I'll try to see if that matches, I think I even go under the Euro on most sets.

I'd like to see you build the Diner in under 3 hours... ;)

Just finished building the A and B-models of #31056 (which i bought two of at a huge discount) with my 2year-old son. Cool to see he really knows how and where to put pieces on (with a little help to concentrate from time to time),  but ultimately lacks the power in his little hands to click (especially larger) pieces into place :)

#41129 Amusement Park Hot Dog Van, first backlog set I've gotten to in weeks, and I opened it to pull parts from. (I replaced those with a similar color when building)

The photo booth really highlights the carnival feel of the Amusement Park theme. The guy in a costume related to the product is a promotional device also seen at regular stores.

As usual for Friends, the smooth furniture isn't actually useful to seat minidolls, so I either don't build it or replace tiles with 1x2x1 panel with center divider (part 93905). The long plate for a roof is a bit flimsy. A 2x6 plate doesn't brace it enough. A 6x10, which fills the whole space, is too tight. A 6x8 fits great.

The vehicle looking like a hot dog is awesome.

The actual building experience was simple and fun.

It's a better food cart than #60150 Pizza Van. (I'm not a huge fan of that set; I think #41311 is a better pizzeria)

Well, #70917 The Ultimate Batmobile actually took about 2:45 to finish! Due to searching through all those black pieces, I guess. :)

Just built #31079 Sunshine Surfer Van. A really nice build, if a little similar to other camper/caravan builds. For some unknown reason, these have become quite common in my collection.

My only minor quibble is that the figs have to sit fully upright due to the support bar behind the cabin - especially frustrating since the seats recline!

Also, I swapped the 1x4 plate with two studs on the side with the 1x4 tile at the back so the side can be opened when the roof is on, which makes more sense to me.

Overall though, it's a great set; very reminiscent of a VW camper - like a T3 with a split windscreen. A compliment to either a beach or campsite theme or looks brilliant on its own.

For a change, both alternate builds look good too, so I might break it down at some point and try those. Or pick up another if I can find one discounted.

^^ Nice job on that pirate ship! I just don't think that front sail looks quite right. Put that triangle one (jib sail?) up there!

I understand what you are saying, and mine is VERY much still a work in progress. But the traditional Spanish Galleon look (which is what I'm going for) tended to have more of a look like this, as opposed to the triangle sail. Besides, I already have a TON of ships with the jib sail up front, I like having a different look for this ship.

It was quite common though, Google it. Here is another for reference.

Just on the final 2 bags of Ninjago City. It's a strange one.....It's a brilliant set, really detailed, huge with some lovely touches, but it's not quite doing it for me like the three previous sets I've built. The Saturn V was just great to build, the Old Fishing Store made me smile all the way through it and Destiny's Bounty was fun to build and great value, too. With each of those I dragged the build out, not wanting it to end. This time I just feel like getting it completed and moving on.

Maybe I've finally become immune to Lego's great sets, but it's the first time that I'm tempted to sell a set on after building. Though I am tempted to MOC a street scene with it now. Going to take a lot of bricks, though, if it's to scale!

You might want to wait for the Dockyards to be released as well.  Not saying that it will make you fall in love with the set, but you might be sad if you sell off the city before you can put it together with the Dockyards!

@captainpirateman - I love your ship, especially with the castle-ish superstructure you have on top (don't know what the nautical term is for everything that goes on top of the hull/deck). And I think the unusual sail at the front helps to make it stand out. I wonder if putting it below the mast that points straight ahead and angle that mast higher up would look as good (or better)?

    Thanks.

My wife is actually the REAL MOCCER of the family, and she has some issues with that front sail as well. So it's something we are thinking about, and plan on addressing in some way.

While it's been a lot of fun building this ship, it does require "brain work" that I do find a little taxing at times. Which I guess only furthers the point that I'm not that great at MOCS, lol. While I do find following the directions tedious at times, it's also something that doesn't require much thought. My favorite part of the hobby is putting all the sets and MOCS together into a world/display, and putting the minifigs in fun "action poses". I get a lot of enjoyment out of that stuff. I compare it to doing a jigsaw puzzle, the "set" is like one puzzle, but then you get to put a bunch of puzzles together to create something even cooler.

I'm saying all of this, lol, because I have to step away from the ship for a minute. Too much "thinking" lol.

I absolutely love the ship also.  I think the thing that makes the front sail 'weird' is that it's on a mast that appears to be anchored in the bowsprit.  But we all know that masts are large, heavy, strong constructions that need to be firmly anchored and supported in a way that the bowsprit alone is unable to do.

I can definitely appreciate the need to step away and stop overthinking for a moment on a build like that though!  Sometimes the wheels of creativity need a rest to oil up and get spinning again! :)

Well, after I'd built my Helicarrier, I needed to get a group shot of all my Quinjets:

Man, look how much less substantive those Quinjets have gotten!! The Age of Ultron one is probably my favorite; while I love the size of the original, there's something about that second, back canopy window that I've always found a little off-putting. I've built the one from the Superhero Airport Battle and was super disappointed. I hope you enjoyed your Helicarrier; I love it, and appreciate the accent colors and am glad it's not just a big hunk of gray.
