Valuation of Star Wars Naboo Starfighter 10026

I am looking into buying a new copy of the Star Wars Naboo Starfighter set (10026) but the price for this set is really baffling me. The price guide on Bricklink has this a little over $300. Checking completing ebay auctions this has gone anywhere from $250+ to almost $500. Original retail value was around $40. It has the set number of a UCS but only comes with 187 pieces. No minifigures included. At such a ridiculously small piece count, can someone explain to me why this is so darn expensive?

Was it released in super small quantity? Does it include out of print bricks?
